6.0 DTC Check Engine Light On

The variable vanes in the turbocharger...the blades move depending on what the engine requires at the time.

Build-up on/around the blades is the usual reason.

The 6.0l trucks like to be run a little...you've heard the term "blow the soot out of it," right??? Do it now and again. It will help to keep the vanes from sticking.

Installing the High Idle Mod. will help also.

the truck does have the high idle mod installed, the only thing bout the truck though is that it may not get drove for a week or 2 at a time do i need to start it periodically and let it come to operating temp??

Maybe. Just sitting there it can start rusting up. If you don't believe, check out this article Diesel Technician SocietyIn time, all our turbos need to cleaned or replaced. It is the way it is for most moving parts. Driving habits and your local climate(humidity)has a lot to do with it I believe.
