Greetings, While backing up a slight graveled incline rear wheels spun a little. I put truck in park then switched to 4 hi.
When I shifted into reverse heard a terrible high pitch grinding noise. Popped it into neutral, then drive and heard a big heavy clunking noise. Then had no reverse. Got pulled out had forward capability but heavy clunking noise, then no go atall. Hook showed up and said rear whells were locked up. Unhooked drive line and towed in to Ford dealer on a Saturday. Monday morning Ford dealer hooks up drive line and said truck is fine could find no problems. Computer showed no codes. Truck does seem to drive as before. Any ideas?? 06 F-350, 4x4, PSD crew cab.

My 01 v-10 did this on more than one occasion. I assume you have esof. A mechanic told me to put truck in N, foot on brake, like engaging 4-lo, and start over. It worked like a charm, but I couldn't explain it. Truck may have low vacuum to hubs if you have esof. Lock 'em manually and try same scenario. Rear wheels locked up seems damn near impossible if in N. I never got stranded, tho'. Just kept messin' with it.

Don't shift into Lo while in PARK, do it in drive with foot on brake and move a few feet.
