Well, I changed out both filters and drained the HFCM. I cycled the key 10 times and started her up. Ran fine for about 4 minutes... was getting ready to get in and go around the block and it started sputtering and then died. Now she won't start... it sounds like she wants to, but no luck.

Suggestions?

Looks like I jumped the gun a little with my last post.... after I let it sit for a couple of minutes I went out and cranked it again... finally got her to sputter to life and within a few minutes it was idling enough to go around the block. By the time I got home (.5 miles) she was running good as new. :sweet

Texas,

I guess I have to ask the stupid question, but the tank has fuel in it? Did you replace the o-rings on the caps? Did the caps seem to go on correctly and seat all the way down? I would open the Secondary and see if the bowl around the filter is full? If not then it is not getting fuel from the tank / HFCM. If there is not fuel in the secondary I would open the HFCM drain and see if there is any fuel in there. I am not sure if the HFCM is like the oil filter when the oil filter is removed it open a drain to let the oil out, the HFCM my have a plug the closes when the filter is removed and the new one did not seat correctly or does not fit...... I know when I bought my truck they had used an aftermarked Oil FIlter and it was just not quite right.....

On EDIT: You fixed it while I was typing.... cool!!!!

I use only Motorcraft brand filters, and I get them from Advance Auto Parts.

The Oil Filter: FL-2016 , this includes the filter and a replacement cap o-ring (replace every time) for around $20

The Fuel Filters: (F-series, Excursion) FD-4604 (E-Series) FD-4606, this includes the Primary Filter , Secondary Filter and cap o-rings for both caps (replace every time) for around $45

I got my fuel filters fromm Amsoil for ~$45. I'll probably get the Motorcraft oil filter when I change my oil (even though I will have the Amsoil bypass kit installed by then).

If you have an International dealer nearby, $35.50 is what they charge me.
Same exact filters as FOMOCO.
IH part #s fuel 1847170C93
$18.00 oil 1840752C92;tu
Stay with either Motorcraft, or International.

Wal Mart has the Motorcraft FL 2016, cheap. I think I just got one for something like $19.00.
