My 01 Superduty is getting pretty boring with the automatic transmission, plus I am too. Never heard of a conversion but I do have access to a new 5 speed transmission and flywheel, probably have to get the ECM flashed too, otherthan that I'm almost positive that the truck has all the mounting locations already there for the plain reason that all the cabs are built the same way. Wonder if a Lariat supercab that year even came with a manual transmission? ANyone ever done or heard of this before?

A little off topic but I owned a Dodge Ram 3500 Larime with a 6 speed trans. I ordered it that way. I would consider doing this to my 99 F250, I think manuals are far supirior.

yes it has been done and is essentially a bolt in operation.

You should be looking at 6 speed transmissions if you are looking at the manual that would have come in the truck which is what would be recommended for a smooth swap

I can't tell for sure from the pic in your avitar but if you have a 4wd truck you will also need to get a new transfer case since the ZF-6 speed uses a different output shaft spline count than the automatic.

I evaluated the cost effectiveness of swapping to a stick shift for my truck and rapidly came to the conclusion that it was going to be far more cost effective to build the automatic. I am thrilled with how my automatic works now but still reach for the clutch (though that could be due to the DD being a stick) and dream of having a stick in there.
