Hello all! I am new to the forum and yes, I have a 5.4 GAS engine! Sorry, I will be upgrading to a diesel soon.

I need some help today. I have an oil cooler that my oil filter attaches to and I am told these are a common problem. The gasket leaks and the O-RING is part of the cooler. SO, are these easy to remove OR does the motor mount have to be removed to pull it? OR can the cooler just be tightened up by removing the oil filter?

Thanks very much and HELLO to all you DIESEL fans.

I understand but on this forum/site, it does say F-SERIES AND SUPER DUTY DIESEL. I'll be getting a powerstroke soon enough but for now I need help.

Thanks again,

You do NOT understand. F-250 and up DIESELS and not gas rigs. There are a bunch of sites that cater to gas rigs, but not here. Nobody here drives a 5.4 gas truck or a F-150.

I am not trying to run you off, just trying to explain that the help you want is not here. I don't care if you are going to buy a diesel in the future or not. We do not cater to gas trucks.

we cater, but we dont know. someone may have some advise here, but most of us only have diesels and we havent had to play with a 5.4 oil cooler.

i can tell you, yes the cooler is a common failure. i cannot tell you anymore than that, sorry.

I guees no GAS engine here!

Thanks ZOOK for the nice response. Your Senoir members aren't so nice. I would think a SENIOR member of this forum might care a little if a NEW member buys a Diesel in the future and could be an intergral part of discussion. I consider an F-250 Super Duty an F-SERIES truck(hence the F in F-250) Anyway, I do appreciate the little help I did get here- thanks ZOOK. Even though I may have a GAS engine, as a Super Duty owner, I would think SOMEONE would help.

I may see you all in the future or perhaps not.

My wifes Gator has the 5.4, the O rings for the cooler are a common size that can be found at just about any auto parts store. you may also want to look at the V-10 trans cooler for your truck also, larger volume.

5.4 OIL COOLER(Frankenstein!)

Thanks Frank. I am told even by a FORD mechanic that the o-ring(s) are part of the cooler itself and are not sold individually. This is the cooler that is directly above the oil filter right?

Also, may I ask what is your wifes gator??

Thanks again,
fozbrick

Wifes Gator...

Navigator.

I looked at her Filter mount. It sits Driverside, Remote, (not on the engine) the mount has 2 lines that feed it, both sides have fittings that will require an O ring. about 5/8 inch.
