I think it flips from the firewall forward. IIRCC it has a tab to pull to make it open....

Well the tab is on the front side of the truck and there is a hinge on the backside.....so I think its the other way around, flip from the front back to the firewall IIRCC??? Just tried rulling on it untill I was dizzy and still didnt want to come off. Trying the sewdriver next

Screwdriver worked....fuse 17 is good but found some others that are bad. Also all of the other fuses for my 4x4 are good. So now I'm left with either broken circuit or a bad motor on my transfer case. Anyone know if there is a way to check the plug with a voltmeter? If its not the plug, how big of a job would it be to replace the motor. I crawled under the truck and it doesnt look to bad. Would there be a lot of fluid pouring out on me? ANything else I forgot???? Thanks

only two wires really run the motor.. the yellow and the orange.. when commanded for 4WD, one is going to have 12v, the other is the ground..
when commanded for low range, or 2WD, the polarity is simply switched by the relay module behind the dash (below the radio, where the tow relays are)

when you're commanding for 4WD or a change in range, all the switch really does is change resistance in a circuit monitored by the GEM.. when in turn goobs around with the relays...

and frankly, I'd be diagnosing it and hopefully replacing a $10. relay, rather than a $200 motor..

and as far as changing it; No, you won't get wet.

I found mine by checking continuity of each wire 4x4 related entering the GEM. Luckily the second wire I checked was broken.

Check continuity of the black wires in the relay box to ground. Should be 0 ohms.

Check all green wires entering the relay box for power. If they have power, try grounding the control wires that come out of the relay box. They are brown/white and orng/lt blu. I pulled the motor off so I didn't put the t-case in an unkownd position. If the motor does work you may need to bump it back and forth to get it lined up with the t-case when you re-install it.

If grounding the brown/white and orng/lt blu wires work, check continuity between the relay box and the GEM module.

You could also pull the motor and apply 12v to it to check it's operation. To change direction, reverse the leads.

Problem solved

Took it back by the tranmission shop, where I just had it to rebuild the transmission, and the plug was not plugged in all the way (the motor on the transfer case). I guess it was hard to secure cause I saw him go back under the truck with a pry-bar.

When in doubt "use a bigger hammer" or in this case a "pry bar" either way I hope it stays fixed....
