I have a 2001 F250 with 260,000 km on it. I have an Evolution programmer and a K&n filter and I have cut all the junk out of the exhaust so that the turbo can breath. My problem is that I think that my tranny is on its way out. If I mash the throtle everything sound good until the tach hits 2500 then there is a loud howling noise comming from the front of the truck. I have been to the local transmission shop and they say that there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it. It does shift ok and it doesn't slip. I think that the pump is going. What do you guys think?

GET RID OF THAT FILTER IMMEDIATELY! The one that you are running will stretch out the factory air box becuase the rubber gasket around it is too thick. This will result in you sucking dirt into your engine. I didnt think it was true until someone told me about it and I started to monitor mine and sure enough...I wiped the intake pipe and found dirt. I went back to the factory intake until i was ready to upgrade the whole system.

But to get back to your subject...you will hear more noise from an aftermarket filter, but I doubt you can really tell a noticeable difference with just the filter...it would have to be an intake before you could really hear it.
