The four will not work without turning in the hubs on the truck. I imagine it is some kind of vacuum system leak, but I was wondering how much work is involved in the fix or if I am better off taking it to a shop? Seems like a common problem among Superduty's! 05 - 6.0

There is a vacuum line going to the wheels in the front end, like the brake lines. This is what locks in or out the hubs. Make sure they both are connected on each end. WHAT DO YOU DRIVE?????

yeah it is.. for a variety of reasons...
most common the vacuum lines come off, get knocked off, crack, etc.
less common are hub and seal failures, but they do happen.

most guys get tired of screwing with them and put on a set of Warn lockouts.

My hubs would stick in locked. I have an '03. Take the circlip off and the whole hub assembly just comes right off. Check the inner hubs to be sure they turn ok. Prolly do - sounds like a vacuum leak, though. But worth looking at.

Is your defroster working? :) If not, you may need a new vacuum pump. Not likely, but a line that came off or is cracked is more likely.

But I'd check the hubs nonetheless. Personally I chose to not mess with it and bought some Warn hubs (manual) when mine went out. Dealer wanted like $600 for 'em.

I had the same problem with mine, I blew the seals. Tore them off and put manuals on and put bolts and silicone in end of the vacuum lines. Problem solved, so what if I need to get out of the truck to lock em in.
