this is kindof off topic but can you buy just a downpipe? ive only seen full exhaust systems. i want to do stacks but it says "everything needed to connect to your existing exhaust."

would i just use my stock exhaust? i dont realy want to buy a full exhaust and only use the downpipe.

If you do a search on exhaust systems most of them sell just a down pipe. My turbo back exhaust from summit fit with no clearance problems and has survived its 3rd winter with no rust yet.

down pipe help.

What are everybodys thoughts on down pipe size. I have been told that the power band is stronger and wider with a 3.5 down pipe. Personally I have never tuned a diesel with exhaust except for opening things up.

Before I installed my 4 inch turbo back system I G-teched it for a baseline. After the install on the same day and same road it was slower doing 0 to 60mph but faster in quarter mile time and speed. The 0-60 time was very close but I picked up several mph in the 1/4. At the time I had a X-Power 50hp towing chip in it. I have heard that the 3.5inch down pipe gives you more bottom end torque.

Well after a few hours with alot of tweeking I finally
used heat and a hammer to make the pipe fit. Chris from Powerstrokeshop
did send me a 2 piece down pipe with totally different angles and bends.
I used the 1 piece and made it fit. It does hit the motor (barely) and now
misses the floorpan by about a half inch. The sound is really nice with a deep throaty sound.
I Like it. I just wish it would have been a smoother install.
Now I need to decide on which and what brand of gauges.
Then a few more things.

This is a perfect illustration of what the 4" DP does. It doesn't give it less tq, or the 3.5" DP doesn't give it more tq, but the 4" simply shifts the torque curve upward in the RPM range, meaning that a 4" system won't feel as torquey off the line, but will in reality, be faster, not to mention being slightly better for egt's while towing, etc.
