roosterdiesel, why are you a former B100 user and now a B40?

B100 supplier went to B20....I've been topping off what B100 I had left in the bed tank with B20 slowly diminishing my blend.

That's going to change soon!:D

How much do you want counselor?-popcorn

dunno. Guess I need to arrange storage and transfer. Probably look at a 55 gallon drum maybe. I'd like to get 100 at a time but funds may prevent that. I'll start working on the logistics.

BTW, a friend of mine here has bought 17 antique gas pumps he is selling. Some good, some needing work. I am thinking of getting one. If you would have any interest let me know. I wonder if it could be modified to pump from a barrel. Might be kind of cool setup.

thanks!

Search for a local supplier. They want $142.00 per reconditioned IBC but you can find them MUCH cheaper. Mine is sitting on four pallets so the drain is off the ground. Hooked the drain up to a pump then through a transfer fuel hose and fuel nozzle. By raising the IBC, the pump always stays primed. :sweet

BTW, they are made of HDPE which AS YOU KNOW (hint hint wink snort :D) is bioD compatible.

Sounds like you are saying you are pulling fuel from the bottom of the tank. Am I correct?
If so, consider this... Any crap. water, soap , glycerol will settle to the bottom as well as "Warm Weather" fuel.
I would recommend pulling fuel from the top.

Ha, cute. I hide behind blaming Antonio :tounge . I just parrot what I get from you "experts" :D .

I did some searching and didnt find anything. I know they are around because I have seen them around town. I'll come up with something. That pump sure is inexpensive. Has it held up well? I suppose you could run a line to the top of the bin and to the pump. I plan to look into modifying an old gas pump (diesel actually) a friend has to see if it could be used on house electric and pump from the bin. That would be kind of cool to have mounted in the garage.

Point well taken but that's how I set it up. I use the top hole for filling when I pump through my filters. The contents of my IBC is not bioD but filtered to 1 micron and dewatered 100% refined soy WVO (hydrogenated free :sweet ). I did install a P trap in the plumbing to the pump with a water drain, but so far my oil has been good. What's soap and glycerol ... :dunno
lol.gif

On Edit: I could install a fabricated standpipe rising 8" from the bottom and connect it to the drain. I'll look in to it.

Soap and Glyercol are byproducts of converting WVO to Biodiesel, but then you said you were storing WVO, so never mind on those two, HOWEVER,
if it is WVO then there will be some settling going on depending on the temps where it is stored. It will have water in it although depending on the process used to remove any free water, not enough to worry about. A stand pipe of some kind would be a good idea even if it is only a few inches off the bottom.
I added a bung to the top of mine in the front off to one side (I store Bidoiesel in it) and use that for the fill and suction, never use the big opening on the top or the lower one.
