Hello all,

My 05, 6.0 PSD is getting ready to hit 30K so while I was at the dealer today (I actually like this service department) I asked about the 30K service.

I can do most of it myself (oil, filters ect) but I have never had to change fluids in the front and rear diffs, or automatic transmission (and filter).

I have also never lubricated front hub needle bearings or u-joints.

Do these things need to be done at the dealer or are they relatively simple to do?

Any advice (and be nice) is appreciated.

You do not have to worry about people not being nice on this site man.:)

Everything mentioned is easy. Tackle one at a time and ask the question.

There are plenty PSD brothers here that have the answers.:sweet

Get a Service Manual or a CD for your truck. It really doesn't matter which brand you get they will have the same information. I think I would let the dealer do the transmission fluid change, as it can get messy without the proper tools and experience. Good Luck on your new project.

The differentials aren't hard to do, take off the pan bolts and play catch with the lube. Not bad at all. I don't remember what the deal is with the front hubs, but they're not terrible. I lock mine in every so often and drive to work, and then on the way home I unlock them and engage the transfer case. Might as well spin that stuff too...

I also can't remember if they were smart enough to put greasable ujoints in the front axle...

Tranny I think I'd let the dealer change, but if you dig around there are articles on how to do it, but it's a pain. Depends how much you trust your dealership.
