I'm on county roads. My route is 33 miles one way so like 66 miles round trip plus I have to go back over everything again to widen or wing off the shoulders and intersections. then I have to sand for some of the motorgrader routes and if its blowing out its just round and round all day long.
Only time of the year I get any OT.

So normally I leave my truck in a heated garage, at about 40 degrees. But when I left it sit outside for 2 days without starting, it made a horrible howling noise immediately after starting. But, the noise instantly went away when I hit the brake pedal. What is this? The truck wasn't plugged in by the way.

exhaust backpressure valve closing...
the engine management software closes the valve and raises RPM to put load on the engine to warm it up faster.
