The 6.0 engines are generally not bad on belts. They do not have the idler problem of the 7.3 engines. So I am saying that this is something new for the 6.0. Anyone else care to chime in??

WOW, hadn't heard of that. over 135k on mine, and never had belt problems.

is it possible that it may be an incorrect belt? just asking, i dont really know what to tell ya.

mine has had some squeeking, but mainly when weather has been damp. far as i know still original belt and truck has 60000km on it. belt still looks ok but will be replacing it sometime soon. other than that no noises from my belt, just my clutch fan when cold...

zero issues here as well
never squeaks or has any signs of odd wear
if I was you i would be tap dancing on a service writers desk till they figure out whats up
the 6.0 has a very reliable setup.
but its a real biotch to change the first time.
i would have em check all the pulleys for run out or grooves .
keep us posted

you got that right on changin it, or even loosing it, just to put a new alt. on.

try doin it at night, in 90* heat, just south of atlanta, under a light post, in the parking lot of a ford dealership, just before they close.

i didn't know i could sit on top on an engine like that.

I have a 2002 7.3 and have well over 60,000 miles on my belt and it still looks like new not even weather checked (I do keep a spare under the seat) but it does squeak a little in the damp/ colder weather

My 03 squeaked but they replaced the belt and all was good.

Don't use the Goodyear belt listed for a single alt/AC 2003, it will howl like you wouldn't believe. (too long)

I couldn't take any more and bought a Dayco one, much better.
