2008 F550 ECU Programming Help

I bought this F550 at an auction. It was missing the ECU. I purchased one online from Ebay and now I'm told I need it programmed. The question I have is, can I purchase the Ford IDS Software Online and program it myself using my Laptop? If so, can I use a OBDI-2 to USB dongle and plug it straight into my laptop or do I have to purchase a VCM or VCM2 controller and use it with the IDS Software? Please help as I'm new to this and don't know the answer. I'm not wanting to put this on a trailer and take it to the dealership to get programmed.

Ford's programming is not released to the public. Too much is at stake, like emissions control. Take it to your Ford dealer and see if they will program it for you.
