Hello All,
I just bought a 2006 F-350 Crew Lariat with the 6.0 engine. I have a problem with the right rear rotor becoming hot after driving. I suspected the parking brake was not releasing properly on that side. I believe my suspicions were confirmed because i found the parking brake cable hanging down on the right side with the spring compressed onto itself, while the cable on the left rear is hanging in a bracket keeping the spring spread out. I found the bracket on the right rear wheel snapped off on the bottom. There is still about a 1/4"-1/2" nub left intact. The bracket i am referring to is shaped like a "C" and allows the brake cable to pass through, but not the outer cable sleeve. My question is how can i fix the problem? It appears that i need to replace the entire parking brake assembly on that side because the bracket seems to be an integral part of the assembly. Also how do i go about stretching the spring back out to get the cable properly seated into the bracket? I used my best man strength but was unable to budge the spring. Any hints or tips to get the spring stretched out enough to seat the cable back into the bracket? I was thinking of having one of my buddies welding another "ear" onto the bracket as a repair.

Thanks

*Update*
I was finally able to get the parking brake cable for the right rear wheel back into it's bracket. After a drive into town, which is 10 miles the rotor was hot again. The three other rotors are warm, but not hot. Any thoughts? I have read posts from others talking about the king pins moving or something like that. I could really use some help here to figure this thing out.
