2005 Torqshift...Is it damaged?????

I have a 2005 F-250 4x4 with the 6.0. When the truck is cold, the truck runs great. However, after I take a trip on the interstate (20 miles or more), the transmission slips between 3rd and 4th gear under light accelertation. Has anybody experienced a similar problem? Hopefully I just need a service instead of a rebuild....those are expensive....

Not that it may make a difference but, what speed are you travelling at when this occurs? IE: does this occur only while accelerating from a particular speed, or regardless of speed on the highway? Is it noticeable under deceleration?

Are you running a tuner?

How many miles are on the truck and how many on the oil change in the transmission.
X2 on Are you running a tuner? Have you pulled the codes?
Do you have a after market transmission temp gage?

No Tuner. No aftermarket temp gauge. I stopped by the transmission shop today. They think it is a cracked piston. Guess I will find out next week when I drop it off!

oh yeah...There are no codes and the truck only has 60K miles

I don't know what a tranny rebuild costs, but you might consider what these guys could do for you.

I have now been to two separate shops, and they both tell me there are no codes showing, and the transmissions operates properly for them...go figure.

I do not know if this could be what causes the slip, but the mechanic told me today the transmission was four (4) quarts low on transmission fluid. Could this be what causes the 2/3 and 3/4 slip when the transmission heats up???

I am not sure about slipping, but 4 quarts low can't be good....and it begs the question...where did the 4 quarts go?

That would do it. Don't ask me how I know. Find the source of the leak, or perhaps during the last service the technician shorted you a gallon of Mercon SP?

My 2005 has done exactly that since I drove it off the lot. It is just what it does. I have had three Ford dealers look at it and two trans shops. I have flushed it and changed the fluid and filter according the maintenance schedule, fluid has always been clean with no debris or metal. I had kept a log of every time it happened for six months but could define no repeatable pattern, the one thing that I did find is it never happened when towing or when heavily into the throttle. After 6 1/2 yrs it doesn't happen as often but still just as randomly and always between 3rd & 4th never any other shift point. I've just stopped worrying about it.
