Good morning. First time to post so here it goes. I have read some really good tips, but I can't seem to find anything on this. I have a 2004 F350 4x4 crewcab and I am hearing a rattle under the driver side foot area. It is not a loud clunk, just a little rattle, like something is loose or 2 pieces of metal are touching when going over bumps. Any ideas would greatly be appriciated.

does the "rattle" happen all the time ? over bumps ? in turns ? in and outta the driveway ?

how many miles on the truck ?
stock ride height ?
you got the original ball joints ?
you got the original SHOCKS ?

you been greasing the front end ?

details

It has 65,000 miles on it, ball joints replaced with MOOG parts, original shocks, RANCHO 9000, 2" leveling kit on frt, greased everytime with the oil change. It happens when you go over bumps all the time. Sounds like a worn shock bushing.

Yea I would like to know some more on this myself, My truck does the same thing ever since I bought the truck with 26,000 miles, It now has 53,000,
Dealer couldnt find it, I have checked myself also.
It does this on my truck at low speed on bumpy road, sounds like it is right under my left foot.
It is not bad just enough to notice. Mine is all stock except tires, 285/75/16. Added new shocks about 4,000 miles ago.

FOUND IT!

Thanks for the help. I got under the trunk last night and just started pulling and pushing on parts and found the rattle to be the lower attachment for the sway bar link on the drv sd. They are about 70 bucks each here in southeast Michigan. Looks like I'm fixing it this weekend.

hate to be the one to break this to you but....those "original" shocks
arent RANCHO...and they sure arent the "9000's"

if youre like the rest of us those FAKE white ford shocks were toast
before you hit the 50k mile mark.

change the shocks to bilsteins and check the sway bar links and
the make sure the bolts are tight...if your passenger side sway bar
drop link is torn out...like the rest of ours have...you can find replacement
polly energy suspension bushings in my "mod" link below.

Bushpilot is right as usual....44,000 on my fake ranchos and the front ones are absolutely shot. Spoke to a service tech from rancho (over the phone) and he said that they make those shocks "TO FORD SPECS FOR FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THEY ARE FORD SHOCKS WITH RANCHO PAINT AND DECALS." He stopped just short of calling them junk. By the way I was certainly not the first person to call them and question these products...

But dont worry- I have bilsteins on the way and upon Bps advice I am gonna check out his links for the bushings. Thanks again BP!!!!:sweet
