Help Needed 2003 front axle removal

Hello. Am sure I am missing something pretty simple but I can not get my driver side axle out. Have removed the hub asembly, snap ring and spacers but can not get the axle out. Appears to have some sort of shield inside the knuckle that is loctited in place. Would like to change my ball joints but am stuck with one wheel up in the air. Thanks, Yorick

Old trick is to use a screw driver (big) to pry out the axle. The seals keep them in their place. It got my last year. You won't damage anything.
