started off about 6 weeks ago truck quit 3 miles from the house. I got it back to the house and started down a path of figuring out what was needed. I watched a bunch of videos and found diesel ron. Initially I was only getting 350 psi on the hpop but the icp was bad so I replaced it and hoped, then did a bleed down which confirmed that the hpop was bad. I replaced the hpop and did the oil cooler while I was in there and got it all buttoned back up and still have no start.

I bought an AE enhanced tuner (figured if I have to keep the truck for another 2 years it was worth it)
I have ficm sync
ficm voltage is >47.5
ipr is 14.7 - 84
ipc voltage is .2
hpop is > 600
The oil is fresh as are the fuel filters

now some more goofy stuff,I have RPM on the scanner but not on the dash, I first thought maybe bad wiring or bad crank sensor but I have ficm sync.

I have a vacation planned in two weeks and need this truck up and need to make sure its going to hold together. Any advice you can offer would be great.

I am no expert but I was told that the FICM power should be 48 and that it should not drop while cranking. Some say if the power drops to 30 or 35 there is major FICM issues. Just throwing this out. I have read and watched dozens of web sites and videos and I am still learning.
Hope you get it going.

no codes but think I have a hp oil leak on the fuel rail or somewhere. I plunged in the block and my oil pressure dropped from 650+ to 350

So pulled the drivers side valve cover, is there any way this is not installer error, as far as I can tell all but one of the saddles holding down the oil log are stripped, can I pull the rocker box with the cab on and how hard is this?

Hate to say it, but I would be trying to drill them out to the next size up.
And yes, installer error.

Here are my thoughts I thought helicoils and I also read you can tap them up to 1/4x20 but both of these would require drilling and tapping on top of an engine that is known for being dirt/particle sensitive that's why we do everything we do to keep em clean. I can not imagine that this would not cause damage to something. So if you have to pulled the rocker boxes to Helicoil them why not just replace them. I have not priced helicoils lately but if you are doing 16 you are at the price of 150$ pair rockerboxes and you have no risk of it pulling out if its done right.

I went back to the guy who has been my mechanic on this truck since it went out of warranty in 2010. He is good and has always been fair with me. I did not go in making accusations instead I went in and said I have a problem whats your opinion. I know he has had some questionable staff over the years and he is not always the one working on it. He would not out and out admit that it was over torqued but he also did not deny it. I blew a head gasket about this time last year and he studded the heads then (the stealership) told me they had already done them when there was an EGR recall and they had to rebuild the engine from the block up (under warranty) So even though it was a year ago it was only about 10k miles ago. He had it towed to his shop this morning, he has rocker boxes in his shop and he said he would work with me. I am not sure exactly what the means but I will find out Friday. He is doing this work himself which is what he said without prompting which was also a subtle admission of guilt.

Well, hopefully he does you right.
I would have no worry drilling/taping up there.
Just hold a vacuum right next to it.
