I just bought my "BIG Red" truck and it has a K&N intake kit and a Superchip, but wanted to check on any other economical mods to help. I heard someone say something about trimming hole behind the grill where air is forced in. Anybody? Economical is KEY.....

Yeah that is called the zoodad mod. You cut a hole in the header panel right in front of the air box tube. Then you can fashion up some ducting to connect the headerpanel to the air box tube, or just put a piece of small wire mess over the hole and be done with it (what I did). The whole idea of this mod is to get cooler air in to the turbo which can lower the egts. It takes about 10mins to do.

First of all, welcome to superdutydiesel!! This is a great website with a wealth of information.

A turbo-back 4 inch exhaust would be the next best thing. you will really notice a difference in throttle response should gain some mpg.

In my own opinion, the superchip really isnt the best tuner out there for mileage. I had one and experienced a lot of flaring when shifting from 3rd to 4th gear. When money allows, get a custom burned chip from dp tuner or something of the like. Someone else will chime in with more info on the chip, but an exhaust will definately get to pointed in the right direction:sweet

The exhaust mod will probably be my next investment. Did anyone check the hp gain to see how much the exhaust helped?

Nope don't know power #'s on 4" exhaust. I see your in Paducah, I travel through there pretty frequently going to ATL. I usually stop at Gander Mountain to stretch the ole legs. If you see a silver f250 with a goose neck with Missouri plates it is probably me.

Well when I am there I am usually over at the waterfowl gear. So I will be on the look out for a good looking crew cab.
