I have a bone stock 2000 f450 4door flatbed 2wd with a 7.3 powerstroke. The problem I am having is when Im towing a 17000lb trailer the EGTs run about 1000f on the flats and right at 1200f on the hills. So what would be causing it to get so high on the hills?
New airfilter(wix stock) and brand new fuel filter(wix stock).
4.88 gears and running about 65mph at 2400rpms.
Well.. In my opinion, he's working as hard as he can... with what Ford & IH gave him... to pull that 17K.
Yer new to SDD, but if you use the Search feature, yul find all kinds of info.. at whatever money and DIY level you have to work with.. that will give you the HP & Torque increases you want.. to pull that 17K better.
My first .02 would be: Open up yer intake air with an open air (conical) filter.. and put a 4" exhaust, with a flow thru muffler on it. See what that does, and let us know ?
Plenty of 7.3 guys on here that are More Than Willing to Help.

On edit ? What Dogman said.. too. Try 60-62 MPH with those 4:88's.
