Ok, last year medical issues required us to start looking for a new tow rig so i have sold my 01 7.3 manual and am looking for an auto "something". I thought i would just go find another 99-03 7.3 but plans have changed.
We found a boat we like for a very good price, "BUT" it’s the biggest thing we have ever thought about towing. She comes in at 12ft wide by 39 foot (44 with trailer) by 12 foot tall and dry with trailer is around 19k on the triple axles. So a truck to handle this is needed. Since this is a wide load requiring permits in most states we can’t be over weight (the trailer is not a concern it’s rated for 30k). This will be our first DRW we know that but not sure what size pickup. We meet others on the water that say they pull fine with any 350 or 3500 on the market and never have issues but I’m not sure.
Years past we didn't take note of the weight because it was always under 8.6 foot wide so you really didn’t have to worry about being stopped.

) GCVW is 33,000 so you should be just fine. I've been up to 45k or so and it pulls/ handles very nice. A 350 would probably do it, but I can't really recommend that.
