Hi,

I'm new to this forum and was wondering if anyone could help me! I'm from England and have a 1999 F-250 with the 7.3 Powerstroke Motor. Problem is that it's drinking engine oil - 4-5 pints on a 250 mile trip! The injector seals were replaced approx 3K and we thought that had cured it but it hasn't. We did a compression test on friday and it ranged between 440 psi and 500 psi - does that sound about right?

Has anyone else experienced oil usage like this? Soon im going to have to install a 45 gallon drum of oil in the back!

Any help would be much appreciated.

It is possible that an o-ring was knicked or torn upon reinstallation of injectors, pull the fuel filter and see if it is black again.

Welcome to the forums. Nice to see folks from the other side of the pond here with us.

:welcome3 hilltop. I agree with Mike on the injector o rings. These engines do not use oil excessively, in general.

im guessing the turbo is leaking it not the injectors... but not ruling out the injecotr o rings.... i personally experienced both leaking scenarios, that is why i suggest it the turbo first.

wow thanks for all your replies!
sorry for the late reply, I only got up an hour ago!
right, it wasn't chucking out black smoke, more normal with hint of brown but it was smoking a lot. Also while we've been working on it there's some soot on the floor by the tailpipe.

Also does anyone know what the compression figures should be?

ThankS!
