More like leave you money for food. Not much to modify on the corn motor.:lmao

hey now, theres a screw to turn!!! :lmao:lmao:lmao

honestly if you are looking into making a total frankenstein, i really want to get a ranger and put a 2 or 3 cylinder Kubota or Perkins diesel under the hood. max speed of about 40 (down hill, tail wind, empty) im thinking it would be perfect for my heavy traffic slow commute, as well as handling those 25mph backroads i live on.

cummins.i bought 1 IDI and love it but ill never get another one.

Fer starters... yul halfta do some Serious frame and suspension mods to support the weight of Either Dezel... in a F-150. Not to mention drivetrain stuff.

A MAJOR project, to say the least.

But if you go forward with it ? Keep us informed ?

hes got a 351M/400 in it now.an idi is no bigger than that and if anything the idi might be smaller.and thecummins cant be much heavier than the idi as with all the conversions that have been done i never heard about a spring or suspension setup change.and even though his project is an f150 he basicalyv has the suspension of todays f350s under it.they were built to be abused.so go aheadandstuff that 12 valve in there!!

on edit: the 79 era f150 had the same frame as the f350.the frame will support the wieght just fine.may ahve to see if they make springs for it with a 460 and A/C

Jeep used a Perkins diesel in the Cherokee for a couple years in the mid-80's. I put a water pump on one. Talk about a mutt... this one happened to be a right hand drive postal Jeep, so I'm sure the owner didn't care, but Judas Priest on a BIKE, that thing was slow...

The F-150's of that era had coil front springs and the 250 / 350 springs were leaf, maybe a conversion to the leaf springs would be in order.

2wd had coils

f350 with a/c and 460/whatever bigblock they list should be fine but again he already has a 351/400 in it.get springs for it with a 351 w A/C.
