This may be a repost, if so sorry. Does anyone know of a picture tutorial for the 10K mod? And is this actually a good mod to do for someone who can't afford a programmer for a while? What are the negetive aspects of it?
Thanks!

Here's a link to one with pictures:

10K Mod

The hardest thing about it is finding the ICP plug...everything else is a snap.

Yes, it's a good mod for those without a chip. If you've got a chip, it's a waste of time.

Negatives -- rougher idle. There are more advanced methods to the mod so that it doesn't effect the ICP sensor until after you are advancing the throttle, but I've not done that. The rough idle is NOT something that bugs me (enough to try the other way, that is)

Go for it....you can always just take it out if you don't like it. :sweet

Well I thought I had it, but I'm having some problems. I got everything hooked up and it cycled fine so I took it for a drive. As soon as I stepped on it the motor lost power and sounded funny but still revved. It did seem to have more power but I didn't really care for how it was running so I took it apart but in the process I touched the wires together; Now I've rigged up a new resistor but can't get the truck to cycle right??

I found a 18K module on ebay for like $40. They give you detalied instructions on how to install. Go that route. It has a variable resistor and a high, low, and off switch. Allows you to adjust it and has a wire to wire into the throttle pedal and that will allow it to idle normal. Thats my 10 cents.

I got everything back together and the motor cycles right but the engine still boggs badly until it gets into the higher RPMS. What's the deal?
Thanks!

Any chance you can snap a picture of the wires installed into the ICP plug as well as the resistor?

Did you solder the connections?
