the auto trans in my 074wd is supposedly a real good one. when did ford start using these? with all 6.0's?(2003) or was it later around 05?

Yeah, the 5R110 came out with the 6.0's and is a very sturdy tranny.

Like 95_Stroker said, it came out with the 6.0's in 2003, it it the only automatic tranny available for the 6.0, it's the 5R110 also known as the Torqueshift, a very stout transmission for sure, and with a BTS rebiuld it'll be even better
