Ok, my truck is in the shop and wont be looked at for close to three weeks, so I have some time to think about whats wrong. Too bad I'm stuck driving a 94 accord in the mean time.:( :(

I bought this truck in July (2005 6.0 w/28k miles) and now just turned 40k trouble free miles. Every thing was great till Dec 4th. I was a friends place and went on a beer run. Got in the truck and it just cranked and cranked. After on and off cranking for a couple mins it finally fired up and ran with no problems.

The problem is now reacurring. If you let the truck sit overnite, it'll fire right away. But if you let it sit for say two mins then try to restart it just cranks like it has no fuel.

I changed the fuel filter, never accidently put in gas, and it has to codes. When it finally starts, it has all the power that it did the first day I bought it. Everything on the truck is stock. Any ideas? The Ford dealership said the won't be able to look at the truck until after the new year, so hopefully I'll hear something this week.

[rant] :rant On another note, why did I not know that there is a $100 deductiable for Ford to work on the engine? I know its not a lot of money but JC its under warranty! That and no loaner car! I had to buy the ghettofied honda to get me around just because it was cheaper than renting a car from enterprise WHICH FORD GIVES AT A DISCOUTED RATE OF $220 A WEEK!!!! BULLSH!!!!T Sorry, this really really pisses me off that I have a $40k truck that they cant get to for a month and wont give me the cheapest of loaners to get me buy. I love Ford but this could be the straw...... :rant [/rant]

WOW, THAT SOUNDS LIKE A LONG TIME TO WAIT, Any other dealers near there that you could call and ask about how long it would be to get to your truck. Yes the $100, goes in after 36,000 miles. I have 31500 on mine and I am trying to get everything fixed before it hits 36,000.
Good Luck

I did that, most dealerships only have 4-5 diesel techs, all taking holiday vacation and a long line of trucks to work on.

Whats a HPOP? And is it covered under the engine warranty?

the HPOP is the High Pressure Oil Pump, it is covered under warranty, and there is a TSB out on it right now, Bushpilot knows more about it than myself, I'm sure he'll chime in with more info.

It really scares me that these engines are considered acceptable at 12 psi of oil pressure at an idle...

Welcome aboard! The HPOP club is always happy to have a new member. I have been a proud member since September of 07. If it gets fixed under warranty, membership does have its rewards.

then dont EVER look @ the factory supplied in-dash
oil pressure gauge...it registers w/ 1psi and maxs out at 6psi

take a look at the "by-pass" valves and youll se theres more
oil pressure than that <depending on where you take the reading>
