You aren't low on oil, correct?

If you lost a head gasket I'm sure you'd see green stuff in the oil by now, or if it managed to stay in the cylinder, you'd never be able to turn it over. No Codes you say? I'm wondering if you didn't loose a cam position sensor, and the ECU is running blind.

Look around online and get the 6.0 bible... there's some pretty good trouble shooting stuff in the back of it. One of the guys here can I'm sure point out the link for the newest revision.

Oil is full. Ill check on the 6.0 bible. Maybe it is just a sensor but i would think a code would appear?

If it was a head gasket there usually is anti-freeze in the oil. The egr could be blowing your anti-freeze out. I recall there were problems with the anti freezeover flow bottle, but not positive what the problems were.

No codes in the eec. Nor was there a engine light when it ran like crap and died at the light.

A buddy of mine talked to a ford service manager and he said 1 of 2 things will cause what happened to me.
1, head gaskets

2, egr cooler or whatever leaking or blown...

And buy the way, 4k for a head gasket job at cost and 1500-2000 for the egr cooler deal.

Im having it towed back to the car lot i bought it from. They said they would check it out. I really hope its not head gaskets. I also checked with International on what a long block would cost me,,,,,,,,,,,10K with a core!-popcorn

first off ive NEVER met a service manager/writer that knew his
ass from a whole in the ground...

2nd it isnt possible to diagnose a problem w/out being there...
at best all this guy MIGHT have is some pattern knowledge..but again
hes NOT a mechanic (dont confuse 'em w/ one).

they only REAL way to diagnose the problem is to WORK ON IT.

Yea my buddies metioned that one also as they knew some trucks to just shut off going down the road and not crank back up!

Yep. A buddy of mine came by around Thanksgiving with an 07, parked it next to my barn, and an hour later-no start. Maybe 2500 miles on it. No codes, no warning. Flat bedded to dealer. I know another guy [my brother] who had the same thing on an 05 at around 35,000 miles. We worked on that thing like dogs, but no luck. HPOP may be more common than we think. Good luck, dude. But I doubt you need an engine, just a good mechanic.

Well it went to the ford dealer today. Car lot i bought it from is kina taking care of it for me. I have no warranty as it was a "as is" sale. But they are being real cool about the whole thing. I really hope its not to major. HG's are cheap but its the labor that will kill you.

Well if it is the HPOP, you can get to it fairly easily... well more so than the head gaskets anyway. good luck, and keep us posted.

Update

Well, the truck is gone. It was head gaskets. Ford said that truck had been in the shop several times for coolant loss and no start problems. I guess somone used some block sealer or somthing to get rid of it.

Anyways, the car lot took it back and i got into a 05 gmc sierra duramax. Nice truck but, im still a ford guy. I just dont trust the 6.0s or the new 6.4s. Kinda sucks but maybe CAT will start dropping engines for ford here soon!
