Question 03 6L cooling

Hey guys , question, my 03 6L , coolant sometimes gets up to 200-210 , and the oil temp , may get up tp 230 sometimes . now i am running the called for stat of 190 degree ? I am towing more then I used to so it is a concrn for me . should I lower the stat to a 180 ? or should i consider a external oil cooler ?

No, don't go lower temperature on the thermostat. Diesels like to run hot! Your oil and water should be like 12 to 15 degrees difference. Keep an eye on the temps.

thats normal. 230 is pushing it. Is your coolant fan coming on? You'll know it, it gets loud. Need to check the fan if not. It should kick on around 212 deg.

Controlled by the computer, but there is a temp switch too. There was a link here for the 6.0 bible but I have no clue if it's working it will tell you were the temp. switch is. If not google it. I know the dealer can just plug in and test the fan and could tell you what it is. But there going to get you on $$ to do it.
