I have the dual alt on mine from factory.Spring and fall I pull the cables to clean, and check the batts with a hydrometer (up untill last summer when I put agm's in.They were always within 10% of full, but I would charge each one indiviually for 12 hrs at varing rates.I did that for the first 15.5 yrs of the trucks life and never had a batt issue. The dual alt on these do not work together as everyone thinks, but rather singally at the whim of the PCM which switches them on and off. These alts are nothing special, just std ford alts as used in single alt apps. The bottom one does have a different front frame for mounting but this has no effect on the alt itself.I wonder if maybe the PCM switches them based on heat build up,hot one gets shut down to cool, then back on when the other gets hot.I still clean and charge the AGM's but cant hydro test them, only load test, which I always did as well with the flodded units.
