We got a 2001 F-350 Diesel work truck. I've replaced both batteries, alternator, and positive battery cable. And the alternator is still not charging. We put a volt meter on the back of the alternator and it was reading between 3 and 5 volts. So basically nothing. I checked all the fuses.

Anybody got any suggestions?

Rats chewed through a wire on my truck. Wire was low on the passengers side fender, behind the battery, and below the starter solenoid.

Nope, all those wires look good. Thanks though.

Any more suggestions?

Did you take the new alternator back in and have it tested. I have changed alternators before had got a hold of some bad ones.

get a "bed of nails" and check every wire coming off the alternator to light a test light with the engine running...

if you have power on all wires, it's a junk alternator
