My stepdad learned the hard way actually i did also. I ran (on foot in military boots) about 1/2 a mile, got a gas can from Rite aid @ 24 dollars (later found it at wal-mart for 5.99) and then ran and got diesel about another 1/8 of a mile. Then ran all the way back to the truck with 4 gallons of fuel in a 5 gallon jug. It had the spill proof nozzle, it was raining/sleeting hard, we had diesel all over use from that damn spill proof... I ran home got my truck and pulled his truck into a nearby wash bay. And it would not start, we filled the fuel filter and everything. I filled the gas can up again about 2 gallons... since we could only get that much in and put another 3 in it. It finally started after 2.5 hours and the truck needs to have like 4 gallons to start it after running out. letting the fuel pump run is a good idea, and there will be long cranks but that was just purging the air and it ran like crap for about 20 min then it was all better. I now carry 2 of those 5 gallon tanks in my bed lol.
How's that for a story? If I would have seen this post b4, I could have helped... O well good luck... I hope to make some bio diesel someday b/c of 3.25 prices.
