    yes it is a common thing for the donuts to go bad..a lot of us went to bellowd up pipes that do not use the donuts...any soot is a signe of boost loss..the turbo needs that exhaust to spin the turbo....nic's,chips or dusted wheel is also a signe of bad boost...

    the best way to look for leaks is with a boost leak detector like this one..or you can build one Intake Pressure Tester is the turbo wheel clean or have any play ?? how about the up pipes behind the turbo?? are the donuts gone? do you see any soot around them??

    the air intake heater (AIH) was meant to heat the air just before it goes into the motor on cold mornings..it is supposed to cut back on the white smoke on cold start up..it doesn't do a thing but restrict air flow..most people gut it and plug the hole in the spider.. or like I did..I made it...

    better reponse, better pick up, eng. runs quiter is about it..if its set to high..(70PSI or higher) the truck may run ruff...65 PSI is recomended..

    you could if you new the spec's..but the ball bearing housing will not work on the stock turbo..they use the ATS housing on a stocker that does the same thing..

    just what Joe said..some truck dont like 70 PSI..mine dont..it likes 65 PSI..dyno runs show better HP when set at 65 as well...as long as the pump can hold 65 PSI..

    not any harder then under the truck..with the vise grips on it..there is no need to hold the dam thing till the job is done like you do with the string..or worry about the sick on the end twisting on you and letting the nut fall into the pan..the vice grips wont fit though the hole or let go of...

    Extreme Low power until 10 minutes

    one end of the tube is on the passenger side exhaust manifold near the front..you can see it by looking inside the wheel well..the tube goes up to the sensor you can see in this pic.

    he said it runs good with no problems in stock setting..in a tune is when it does this..don't know how long he has had the chip..I got no answer yet..did it start skipping when he puts the chip in? or has the chip been there for a while then it started skipping?? some trucks take a couple burns...

    if every thing is fine with no chip then i would call Jody..how long have you had the chip? if it was map ot IPR .i would think it would show up even with out a chip..i have a spare IPR i could lend you if want to try it..i took it out cause i thought it could be a problem i had..it didnt fix...

    7.3L Turbo Question...

    I hope you unplugged the EBPV sender on the pedestal..if you didn't..the bearing is starving for oil....could also be the cause of the oil leek..you can gut the pedestal tap the hole and plug it with a bolt..or just buy a non EBPV pedestal..if you want to gut it ill post back a more in depth how...
