    If and when that time comes, I am probably going to do a cost analysis, and see what the difference in cost is between it an doing a Cummins swap. I am at 107,000 miles without a problem, right now, so that seems like it might be a ways away.

    If you are going to car camp, get a cot. They are far better than any air mattress. I also use a tarp, with some PVC, on the side of the truck as a cover. You can stay very comfortable on a cot, even when it is really cold out.

    If you will look, all work trucks are automatics. Very seldom does a company order a pickup with a standard transmission. I do not get the love affair with manuals. Even semis are gradually going to automatics, because they are finding that they are safer and more fuel efficient.

    It would be easier to swap the cabs. Less bolts to turn, and just easier to do overall.

    Update, The original suspect was wrong. There is a bolt head on the cross member just ahead of where the cat should be, that the exhaust was hitting. It was close enough that during normal driving there would be no problem, just on left turns. It is all better now.
