    Blue smoke on start up

low compression would cause the same issue, but it would also cause a hard start or very long crank to start. you could compression test to see if maybe you have a bad cylinder or two....? valve seals leaking could be a possibility, but after a 12 hour shift i would expect it to have enough...

    new truck has some issues

the miss sounds exactly like the miss i have right now, and mine is an injector. its actually not missing completely, but it is very weak. you can unplug one injector at a time with the engine running to see who is the weakling. check out our site sponsors for really good prices on upgrades or...

    Question 203 degrees thermostat

it gives you more heat while you are stuck in traffic on a cold winter day. also, it keeps the engine in its happy spot when its cold out, or you arent working it hard enough to make more heat. i dont know about more power though. i would say not really, unless you are considering the cold...

    Batteries..........

our digital tester at work will tell you to charge and retest if the battery is discharged. charge it up and have them tested, i bet they will fail even after charging. OR.....let them discharge so the freeze protection is low, and let them freeze and bend plates :D definatly will fail after that!

    Blue smoke on start up

blue smoke is often thought to be burning oil that is passing the rings, wich is true, BUT....cold diesel engines will always smoke blue, and its mostly not burning oil. diesel engines rely on extreme heat made by the compression stroke to ignite and burn the fuel. when the engine is cold, the...

Question Bogging noise... Turbo, Transmission, I don't know..

you will loose the exhaust backpressure to aid in keeping the engine warm while driving, you will gain back the 2+mpg it was robbing every time it comes on. when mine was working, it didnt help keep the engine warm anyway. need to get a 203* t-stat for that. it is only designed to come on under...

Question Bogging noise... Turbo, Transmission, I don't know..

your race car handles 650 ftlbs for 1/4 mile at a time. your truck tranny handles 12,000lbs and 400ftlbs going up the side of a mountain for 100,000 miles (or more...). im not trying to argue, i know exactly how you feel. just trying to justify a little bit of the sticker shock :) when this bog...

Question Bogging noise... Turbo, Transmission, I don't know..

toobsluver- dont forget the trannies need to handle torque, not horsepower. our engines are throwing as much torque as a healthy gasser. i know there is much more to it than that, but our engines are putting down some really good torque numbers out of the box. from your post (#9) i dont think...

i have the star wars entire set. i watch them all, all the time! something really cool was when i went to belize and guatemala....the jungle scenes where the ships are landing, where all filmed from atop the tallest of mayan ruins, and i was there. its crazy! dad was a trekky, i really dont...

    Which Tire?

dont worry about plys, you want a load range "E" tire. im not sure how heavy your trailer or load gets, but a load range "D" may suit you as well, especially if the price is right! i load my rig heavy and run it hard so i stick with "E". some people here had good things to say about Nitto tera...

Question Head lights in the bumper?

are you talking about taking the headlight housing and putting it in the bumper? to each his own but i hate the way that looks on the superduty, probably would hate it more on an OBS. if you are talking about fog lights, you can get factory ones for the holes in the bumper that came with eddie...

    Snow performance water methanol injection

plenty of people use it on the older engines, but unfortunately you (or someone else...) needs to pioneer a bit on the 6.4 and post up results! us IDI, 7.3, and 6.0 guys could tell you it works with our stuff :D but we are eager and waiting to hear whats up with the 6.4 mods. im still waiting to...

Rear End Leak, not mine, the trucks

the only time i have seen fluid coming out of the breather on a diff housing is: -overfilled -overheating (wasted differential) -wrong breather installed (no baffle....im not sure as this applies to light duty trucks, but more class 8 stuff)

    New to me 2001

for auto trannies, regular servicing is the key to long life. these trannies are very rough on fluid, and burnt fluid is not good at lubricating and lets the clutches chew up. mods.......:D how fast do you want to go???? like joe said, get some guages and go from there.
