    Question Just need an answer

Possibly...that is the best answer you can get. There are bone stock trucks out there with head gasket issues, so it's really hard to say for sure. Personally, I have an SCT, I usually run either the tow tune or sometimes the street tune which I got from DJ's...no longer in...

    The muffler fell off...

And it landed right next to the little kitten that fell off a while back when the MBRP went on. It's not much louder in the cab, not as much as I expected honestly. However, when in the upper RPMs, it makes a cackle sound almost like an older truck with duals and glass packs racking one off...

Question What did you do to your truck today?

Almost finished with putting the B&W turnover ball gooseneck hitch in the bed. All that I really lack is getting the wiring tied in. I also got ambitious enough to tear into the little 12v compressor that I have under the hood for the air horns. It hasn't worked for quite a while but I just...

    Dumb Question #4056, Bed interchange.

The tailgate is the same, but the beds are definitly not.

Question Is there any good 6.o's out there?

....KNOCKING ON WOOD.... I;ve got about 43K on my 05 and she has not been in the shop for any engine related items...yet... I did have it flashed once and they put the new decal on the degas bottle, but that was it. I've got a tuner and an aftermarket exhaust...no problems here. Still...

    Question CCV Mod Basic Q

If you have ever noticed all of the oil residue that lives on the intercooler hoses, or have ever opened up those hoses and seen the oil inside the piping, that is because the crank case is vented upstream of the turbocharger. All of the oily air is routed back though the intake system. This...

    Oil for 2006 6.0

I've been running Rotella T 15w40 since the first oil change and now for 42K trouble free miles...I have no plans on changing.

    emblems

I painted one up...not on the Duty, but I had it on my buggy. It is really easy to do, although I would probably try to get one from the junkyard to try first before diving right in on the good emblems. It didn't really cost me anything to do...just some time. But, the emblems are one of...

oil tube repair - 6.0l filter housing

It took me a while, but finally, here are some pics... First of all, here is what I saw when I pulled the oil filter cartrige out of the housing...a big WTF?!?!?! Yes, my CAC boots are oily and such...I really need to do a CCV mod...and soon. The offending peice of plastic junk that...

04 vs 05 and difference between lariat and XLT

The '04 was the last year for leaf springs in the front, the '05 up are radius arm/coil springs. I personally think that the 05 up ride a little better, it's a little smoother going down the road anyway, but it isn't that much of a difference. Not sure what the cost would be to get 35s under...

    Hello ^^ new member :)

05 and up Strokes ALL have the block heater, but not all of them have the cord. The cord could be tucked in behind the fog light somewhere on the passenger side, but there is an equally good chance that it just isn't there. There are several options though...you can go to the Ford parts...

oil tube repair - 6.0l filter housing

I am not done with this write up, I do want to get it posted up just incase someone else has the same problem as I did, I would hope that the job would go much easier since I got home schooled on this one...As soon as my pic hosting site allows, I will add some pics and delete this narrative...

    Oil filter change problem

OK, so I found a few others that have had this problem. I got the replacement part, but then I goofed. I've got it straightened out, I will have a step by step of how to fix this issue soon. It's really not too bad...just a small PITA and $40 or so to your Ford Parts Department.

    Oil filter change problem

OK, just found a pic...judging by this, it is the oil filter bypass. BUT, the pic shows the rounded nub pointing up. When I pulled the filter, it was facing down. Page 25: Lubrication System

    Oil filter change problem

Just trying to beat the real cold and get the oil changed today...pulled the plug and drained the pan, then pulled the filter cap. When I pulled the cap and filter up, I noticed there was a small spring and a plastic plunger sort of thing sitting on the larger spring that stays in the filter...

6.0 DTC Check Engine Light On

The variable vanes in the turbocharger...the blades move depending on what the engine requires at the time. Build-up on/around the blades is the usual reason. The 6.0l trucks like to be run a little...you've heard the term "blow the soot out of it," right??? Do it now and again. It will...

    Block heater

Seems like I remember seeing that someone had got a flip down license plate bracket mounted up, then put the plug behind that...don't remember where I read that at though.

    CB Radio

I currently have a Wilson 1000 magnet mount stuck on the roof, but I am going to go with a permenant mount Wilson 1000 soon. Wilson or K40 are good antennas...either one. I've had several different kinds of antennas mounted in the bed, and they were OK, but none that really stood out...

    Question New Exhaust

Another vote for MBRP...that is going to be a fairly consistant answer just about anywhere you look though. Although I don't have the same thing you are wanting, I've got the turbo back offroad system on mine, the MBRP kit is pretty slick. It fit well and I am very happy with it. In fact...

Question Best place to mount a CB Radio and Antenna

The BEST place for the antenna is the center of the roof...hands down. I've got a Wilson mag mount, but I wish I would have just gone with the permanant mount instead...I let the CB shop owner and a buddy talk me out of it and I shouldn't have. Anyway, the radio itself just depends on the...

    Hello and Govenor

It depends on the tuner I suppose. There may be an optional perameter that you can set when tuning. That is how my SCT is anyway.

    poor inside heat

There is a shut off valve on the coolant line that feeds the heater core...that could possibly be part of the probelm. Otherwise, I don't know that the 05s have the same problem with the vaccum in the dash like some of the earlier models did, but it wouldn't hurt to look at the hvac blend...

    Help Needed radio/window failure?

One of the very few problems I've had with my truck...It's happened only a few times in the 3.5 years I've owned it, and most times it is when it is cold. I turn on the key and neither the radio or the power windows will work. The lights to the window and lock switches are also not glowing...
