    I'm done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The work enviroment is very "layed back", almost too much so for me. I like staying busy instead of standing around "visiting", time passes more quickly. Unlike the RV place, I don't have someone on my ass every minute of the day. I don't have a suspected alcoholic, medication addicted...

    I'm done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had my last 3 finals yesterday & today. I got a 100%, 99.5% and a 98% on them. I think I might just finish up with my 4.0 GPA intact. I start my FAA exams tomorrow with my General written. The other two writtens are next week. If all goes to plan, I'll have my FAA certificate in my...

    wheel bearing assembly

X2 FWIW, considering the time spent on extracting the old studs, I found it easier and less troublesome to just get new studs and put them in.

Help Needed stuck in Roswell NM

Just a hunch, but I'm guessing the analyzer said there wasn't any pressure from the HPOP, so they replaced the IPR and it still didn't run. I'm betting the "other" part is the ICP sensor. The HPOP pressure reading comes from the ICP. So if the reading is zero, they might have replaced the...

Help Needed stuck in Roswell NM

How much fuel is in the tank? I know it may sound like a silly question, but humor me. There is a reason I'm asking.

    Where I'm working now.

I'll wait to see what my tool needs at work will actually be. Some tools I have, I was told not to bring to work because they have company/calibrated tools we're supposed to use. Besides for now, I'm just a painter/ N.U.G (New Useless Guy) because I don't have my FAA certificate yet. I...

    Where I'm working now.

I hear ya!! Good luck on the job search. I heard on the news the other day that statistically speaking, an unemployed person 55 or older has only a 38% chance of finding another job. Good thing I'm not quite there yet, even though I'm close enough. But I suppose being near the top of the...

    Where I'm working now.

Heavy checks. We're one of two American Eagle maintenance bases that handle the Embraer jets. They used to handle ATR 42 & 72, but switched to Embraers. The ATR's went to other maintenance bases, but there are strong rumors they will be returning here. We will keep doing Embraers in addition...

    New Job for Me??

This past week was my first week. I leave the house for school M-F about 7:30. Classes go until 3:30 when I beat feet for work. This week I was in orientation & training everyday except Wed, not getting home until 10:30 pm. And again today from 8:00 to 1:00...

    185000 mi on drive line

The hardest part was breaking loose the big nut on the driveshaft centerline. It took a 3/4" drive socket set and a 5' extension bar slid on the end of the breaker bar. I'm guessing at least 300 ft/lbs. That kind of torque almost ripped my vise right off the work bench. Do the u-joints too...

    tranny pans

There are two tranny pans for the 4R100. One for 2wd and one for 4wd. The difference is the degth of the sump which is deeper for 4wd. That was to help keep the filter intake from coming uncovered in high vehicle angles. The filters are the same except for length of the fluid intake snout...

I Saw Some Nice WWII Planes Today

I know B-24's were built at at least two plants, one was Willow Run. The other was in Fort Worth on the other side of the runway opposite from NAS Fort Worth formerly Carswell AFB. After WWII, B-36, B-58, F-111 and F-16 were built in the same plant. I think the F-35 is now being built there.

I Saw Some Nice WWII Planes Today

The Allisons lost a lot of their power at higher altitudes. The Merlins kept a lot more power at altitude, maybe they had a better turbo/super charger?? :dunno I learned in school that some WWII era recip's had two stage superchargers. A low speed setting for low altitude, and a high...

I Saw Some Nice WWII Planes Today

If that's the case, it might very well be the only P-51A still flying. Some of the early P-51A models had a Allison engine in them and were a dog at altitude. The Brit's did an experiment and put the Merlin, the same engine as the Spitfire, into the P-51 and it became a hotter performer than...

    New Job for Me??

I'm still livid over the way the way they treat people and the manner they let me go. But now I'm glad it happened. My future is looking so much brighter now. My part time check will be about the same as my full time check at the RV place. When I go full time after I get my FAA mechanics...

I Saw Some Nice WWII Planes Today

I found some more pics. This is a very early P-51A model. I guess you could describe it as having a 'fastback', but that really sucked for telling if there was someone on your butt. If there any of these left, it can't be very many at all. Here is a P-51D model showing the 'bubble...

The Air Force Museum in Ohio has a B-17, B-24, B-25 as well as the B-29 that dropped the 2nd A-bomb on Japan. It is second only to the Smithsonian's National Air & Space Museum as far as size, scope & quality of stuff. They have a couple of airplanes that nobody else has including the last...

I Saw Some Nice WWII Planes Today

The EAA in Oshkosh, WI has a B-17 also. If I don't have to work, I might get to work on it in April. There are definately more than one P-51 left. This is a pic of a line of P-51's at an airshow in CA. Maybe they have a P-51A, I think those are rather few. The P-51D is much more...

    New Job for Me??

Well, it's official. I got a call this afternoon telling me when to report for orientation & training for my new job. :woo:bama I start after school, the last week of March. It's been a long time coming. It's been about 2 1/2 years since I got layed off from my last full time job. I...

    help?

If you follow the link below to my webshots, I have a couple of photo albums where I converted to manual hubs and later when I converted to a Dynatrac front hubs. Between the two it should give you a better idea as to what is involved in tearing into the front hubs & axle joints. FWIW, I...
