    hmmm interesting issue. Just for grins and giggles, press your parking brake, slightly just enough to activate the parking brake light. the Brake works in conjunction with the HL system. At least it does with the OBS and 99/00 SD.

    Picked up your response off of the RV forum, apparently there was a wire that had chaffed, and as you put the truck in reverse that would cause the engine to shift a bit, allowing the chaffed wire to short on a bolt under the air intake tube.

    If you have the Cash in Hand Dyna Trac is the Way to go. I have in the Past greased my front unit bearings... a PIA but doable. I would use a Turkey injection syringe, and Mobile one synthetic grease. The needle to the injector would "just" barely fit between the tone ring in the ABS hole...

    From a buddy of mine.. "Hot start issues are traditionally oil related. Cold oil is thicker, and builds pressure faster and will even build pressure against a leaky o-ring to a point. Hot oil is thin and runny, and if there is an internal oil leak like an injector o-ring, or one of those plugs...

    Not enough info.... a miss could be lots of things... simple glow plug relay to a busted piston... tranny is shot.... if the body is beat to heck... not much of a bargain....

    So those of you who have been running synthetic ..long term, what is your oil change interval?..... with the Dyno I have been doing a 5K change cycle... I would hope to see a 7.5 to 10K cycle to help justify the expense. For me 5 K is about every month and a half.

    An 02 should have had the upgraded shift fork, however it may be possible that you do not have the stronger on, and the one you have is bent.
