    Impressive Scot. I will be cutting mine open when in the next month or so when I change my oil. I will update when I do. From what I understand, once you get the major stuff left over from casting the amount of sediment you find should decrease quite a bit.

    I get it in a normal squirt bottle, like a normal bottle of Windex. I actually buy the gallon refill jugs because its cheaper.

    Simple Green is fine on plastics. I not only use it on my truck but I also use it on my Harley. Cuts cleaning time down immensely. I also have never seen Simple Green in a can.:dunno

    I actually bought my entire Autometer set-up brand new on ebay for an incredible price, I think it was $202.00. It was a display unit that had a scratch or two on it but I didn't care because I was painting it.

    Thanks for the good idea Dave, maybe I will try my 3" air cut off wheel or the Dremel. Even if you get some excess metal shavings in the filter, should be easy enough to figure out what is filtered junk and what is metal shavings.

    Looks great Dave, I like the shave look. I see in your sig you are installing Whelen strobes. I would be interested in how the install went, what you installed, how much it costs etc... I will be plowing snow next year and may install some Whelen strobes.

    did you happen to save the filter and cut it open to see what it caught? if so then you know you must post some pictures. I installed a coolant filter as well but mine is still hot to the touch so I haven't changed it yet.
