    Turbo Problem...Need Help!

    The vanes are either caked with soot and crud or your unison ring is shot. Your truck has about the same milage when my turbo gave up on my 06 and had to be replaced.

It was causing all kinds of wierd stuff to happen like the tach reading idle when I was cruising down the highway at 65. You may also be having some turbo issues as well because that can cause the lack of power...

    Just a tid bit of info I picked up this past weekend while changing my fuel filter is that you can substitute a 1-3/8 socket for the 36mm if you do not have a 36mm.

    If you were in the north I would tell you to plug the truck in but since you are in Texas I don't think that is the problem. I would check the batteries first because if the are old and getting weak that could be part of your problems and weak batteries can cause wierd things to happen on these...

    Changed the oil and fuel filters today. The truck runs so much better with new fitlers.

    Yes the turbo's on the 6.0 are a variable geometry turbo (VGT) and yes there is also an EGR system on these trucks which can be problematic. I would see if anyone can run an OASIS report on this van before you buy it so you know if any of this has been taken care of under warranty at some point.

    The biggest issues that you are going to have are going to be the turbo and the EGR if that truck did a lot idleing. The other thing is that the vanes tend to stick in the turbo if the truck has not been run for extended amounts of time.

    IH=International Harvester and you need a heavy duty timer that can handle up to 1500 watts I found mine at Home Depot.

    I will normally set my timer to turn on at 1am and turn off at 6am when I leave for work. And I will normally run that for 32* down to about -10* and then I will turn it on and leave the timer on from the time I get home until I leave for work in morning when it's -10* and below.
