    Need to replace wheel bearing

Don't forget to check the inner needle bearings inside the spindle as well, the axle shaft spins on these in 4wheel drive, if you in that far to do wheel bearings, you would be time and money ahead to at least check them and the axle u-joints as well. Most of the time the needle bearings only...

    Batteries, alternator,, or worse?

And don't let autozone's dumba@@ counterboy check your truck. Find a reputable shop that you can use regularly, if you can't do this stuff on your own. Best to spend a little to fix it right, rather then spending alot to throw the wrong parts at it. That's my 2 cnts

Carrier Bearing and U joint Install Questions

I've seen several carrier bearings require a torch to cut the inner race off the driveshaft, not always but quite often. Once you get the old one off, most of the time you can use a piece of pipe that just slips over the slipyoke splines and a hammer to drive the new one on.

    Got it shimmed!

Seems to be just what Bigjoe said, smoother and quieter. Maybe a littler more responsive. It definitely didn't hurt

    Got it shimmed!

Just wanted to let eveyone who helped know that I got the fpr shim figured. I never did find the right size washers but I noticed that on ebay there were some aluminum plugs for sale in varoius sizes, so I made one of my own out of a small screw. With the expertise of whiteduty of course, his...

    ebpv as exhaust brake

Thanks guys, your info is great. I especially liked the info on the relay, thanks bbressler. I think thats the way I want to go at this point, I just have one more question. Do you really need to have a switch that will turn it on constantly? Do you find the need to turn it on and still give...

    ebpv as exhaust brake

Any one ever wire this up on the 2000 body style? Thats something that I hadn't thought of, did I miss the throttle switch included in the install? I would like to know how to wire it up with a switch to turn the whole system on, and use the throttle to engage/disengage the valve. Thanks guys...

    ebpv as exhaust brake

Thanks crumm, I've found the info to do this on the obs but I'm not sure if the procedure is the same for the 2000's or not. I dont need the throttle cut out per say but it would be nice. I just thinking about cutting the gray/red wire and running the power off a switch to turn it on and off...

    ebpv as exhaust brake

So I've been scouring the old posts and the wiki about this one and I came up with a question. Why can't a guy just run a switched power to the gray/red wire at the ebpv connector to turn it on and off at will? I've already disconnected the connector so the jets don't land at my house on...

    Help Needed shimming the fpr

Thnaks Big Joe, just coouldn't imagine finding washers getting much smaller than the other "#4" washers I had in hand. I try a electronics store next.

    Help Needed shimming the fpr

So what your saying is the washers need to be the same diameter as the spring? They would have to be the smallest washers I've ever seen!

    Help Needed shimming the fpr

So I got some #4 stainless washers to do the mod, and they are way to big to fit in the brass sleeve. The wiki article says that some filing may be necessary, but it looks like they would have to be ground down a lot. Any chance you could put them in the bore on the housing in front of the brass...

    Changing parking break shoes

The shoes run on the inside of the brake rotor if i'm not mistaken. A good smack with a hammer on the face of the rotor should loosen it once the caliper is removed. (use rubber mallet). If that doesn't work, then there are usually some threaded holes in the front, in between the lug studs that...

    lopey idle?

Aggitator, unplug the injectors one at a time with the engine running. Listen for the one that doesn't make the engine run worse, or that doesn't make as much difference. ;tu

    4wd Launches

PLATINUM, SOUNDS LIKE A VACUMN LEAK AT THE SWITCH OR UNDER THE DASH. BLOWING OUT THE DEFROST IS THE MAIN CLUE, DEFROST IS THE DEFAULT SO YOU WILL ALWAYS BE ABLE TO CLEAR THE WINDSHEILD. HAVE TO HAVE GOOD VACUMN(AKA NO LEAKS) TO CHANGE THE HEATER TO VENTS OR FLOOR. AND YOU SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO...
