Question Converting a Calif to Federal? (fuel damper delete)

A friend who has a '97 F250 Super Cab California truck has a fuel leak by his banjo bolt. Unfortunately his fuel damper is in the way and there is no way to tighten the banjo bolt unless the turbo pedestal is removed. Then he saw my truck, a Federal which makes getting to the banjo bolt a whole...

Question Do I need an AIC?

Well a few weeks have passed since I installed the serp belt tensioner... (remember this thread?). Well the charge needle is now acting normal. The dry bearing in my tensioner pulley must have caused enough drag/friction at idle to show a low voltage. The new one was well worth the wait...

Fuel additives - what are you guys running?

OK, but when running high bioD blends I notice a sluggish acceleration due to the delayed burn but adding a cetane product to the blend brings it to where #2 is, acceleration wise. Cetane probably lowers the auto ignition temperature of the fuel allowing quicker combustion. I never considered...

Fuel additives - what are you guys running?

I've used Diesel Clean, Stanadyne Performance Formula and B99. I like Diesel Clean because of the added cetane. Stanadyne is more expensive and harder to find. B99 is not really an additive, but the best injector cleaner around.

Question What did you do to your truck today?

Finally figured out why my FPR is leaking as well as why a return line BURST. It's due to running vegoil. Seems as though some vegoil had solidified on the steel wool mesh filter inside my FPR preventing the return fuel from properly returning to the tank. As pressure built up it would leak from...

There better be because she'll have to make a right then a left then a right to get to my house from the main road. Thank goodness for ambidextrous UPS drivers. :lmao

No doubt...but at least I'm on the left coast. :D Well I bit the bullet and shot some lube in the dry tensioner bearing and put it back just so I had use of it earlier. :drive A band-aid fix until the UPS gal (yes a female) gets here on Thursday.

It a serpentine belt tensioner that I ordered as the bearings on mine are bone dry and grinding. My frustration is rising by the hour because I just saw the UPS tracking and it won't be here until Thursday. But I need my truck on Tuesday for work and have no interest in driving it as it is.

There are other Ford dealerships in Michigan that offer internet discount pricing equal to powerstrokeshop.com. I found them with Google. In the future I plan on giving them my business as the auto based economy in Michigan could use help to boost it.

Just want to share with you my most recent dealings with powerstrokeshop.com. This thread is by no means meant to bash them as they do offer great prices way below the local dealerships, but to let you know the poor customer service I just received. I placed an order last Friday over the phone...

    203* thermostat...???

Whether it helps on the MPGs or not I'm still sold on it. Added cab heat? Don't need it. What I do like is that the engine will always run warmer than the stock 195*. In my case I need the extra coolant heat for my VO system. Been using Bob's 203* since '02...four years before running VO. But...

Question Do I need an AIC?

Sort of. It reminds me of the conversation I had with the company right after installation just after I first noticed it. I bought the correct upgrade alternator for my year truck and they swear that the supplied pulley is the correct size. BTW it's much smaller than the one on the stock...

Question Do I need an AIC?

My issue is that since I upgraded to a 200 amp alternator four years ago the charge needle falls way to the left every time I stop at a red light especially with my headlights and vegoil heaters on. Once I start moving it goes far to the right again. Never had a problem with it but it doesn't...

    15w40 Oil Quality

They all are rated CJ-4 but each has a different additive package and anti foam formula. IMO the best way is to try each oil and see how your truck runs on it, to see if one burns more oil than another and to have a UOA (used oil analysis) done. My truck prefers Delo 15W40.

    holy smokes !!!

    * White smoke upon start up in cold ambient temp is perfectly normal as long as it clears in a minute or two. Possible causes for: Black smoke - faulty injection system (over fueling), clogged air filter, incorrect timing and engine overheating. Blue smoke - engine oil level too high, worn...

    Question Leaking oil cooler o-rings

If my oil cooler o-rings are leaking where will I see it? What will it damage? I was told to change them since I'm well over 300K even though I don't think they're leaking. Is this wise preventative maintenance or fixing something that ain't broke? :dunno BTW, I don't even know where it's...
