    fuel mileage

My '96 F250 gets 11-12 mpg. I have a 3" downpipe with 4" straight exhaust. I also have a superchips programmer, but it doesn't do anything for mileage for me. I feel you pain with the mileage and fuel prices. I am paying 3.87 here in Cheyenne, Wy. I hope you can get your mileage up better than me.

    fuel mileage

Well, I pulled the front apart today after work. The passenger side inner bearing is bad, the auto lock hub is sticking which doesn't matter, because I am changing them tomorrow. I guess I will be doing the bearings as well. When I filled up today, SUCCESS. I am now up to 14 mpg. That is with my...

No. I don't hear anything besides the turbo spooling. I have also checked with soapy water and some of the canned smoke (its like the air you use to clean computers, only smoke) I use to check Fire Alarms with. I didn't see any bubbles or any of the smoke get sucked in anywhere. Is there another...

    Weak Brakes

I had the same problem when I replaced my rear brakes. I had to go back the next day and readjust my rear pads. You might can check that or maybe try bleeding your brakes to make sure there is no air in the line somehow.

I forgot to add, that I have not found any boost or pressure leaks, but that doesn't mean there isn't any.

    fuel mileage

I have verified that the front is not engaged. I have auto locking hubs, but will soon be changing to Warn Locking hubs. I checked the speedometer with mileage posts on the interstate, and it is right on with them. Since I changed the rear brakes and everything, I have increased from 9 to 11...

    fuel mileage

Well, I am still struggling with this mileage thing. I have replaced the rear brake drums, pads, springs and all. I am no longer leaking fuel, checked and greased the front bearings, changed the diff fluid in the front and rear, cleaned the FPR Screen, cleaned the air filter again and put...

    97 F350 sell or rebuild?????

Check for your parts at LMC Truck parts. You will still have to install them, but you would be alot better off with rebuilding it than buying a new truck. Heck your engine isn't even barely broke in yet. I have been rebuilding my '96 F250 with them and my 1960 F100. No problems yet and very happy.

    fuel mileage

I got the fuel leak fixed. It was the O-ring problem on the injection pump. I don't think it is the cause of my bad mileage, seeing as it was only leaking for 3 days and I have had bad mileage for about 3 months. Anything at this point will help though. My next try is the filter screen by the...

    fuel mileage

O.K. I got the brake problem taken care of. I went ahead and checked all of them just in case. While I was doing that, I found a feul leak dripping from underneath. I traced it out to I think the Feul pump by the turbo. It is leaking into the valley then running down. I think I seen an article...

I am Bonestrokers brother. I am new to diesels, I bought my truck in July, so sorry if I have some stupid questions. Like bone said, I have a 96 F250 with the 7.3 in it. I have an E40D auto transmission, 3.55 gears, 285 x 75 x 16 tires, K/N filter (crap), 3" down pipe and straight 4" exhaust. I...
