Turbo failures due to aftermarket exhaust

-mad Ford is blaming my ongoing turbo failure's on my MBRP Cool Duals. I tried to start the DSB thru my dealer. When the dealer talked to Ford, and told them about my truck going thru 4 turbo's, the first thing the "Powerstroke Engineer" asked him was if I had an aftermarket exhaust. I calmly told the friendly dealer person that I had the first 2, of 4, turbo's go bad when the truck was bone stock! So, I'll keep you all posted as to what happens.

With Ford posting the largest loss in its history, they seem to be looking at any and every way to get out of warranty claims.

What is going bad in the turbo. If it is the bearings you probly have an oiling problem. The veriable veins never worked right. The aftermarket systerms WILL NOT make a turbo go bad. If thay keep giving you a problem ask for it in writing and you may have to contact a lawer or I read that SEMA has an action network to help.

your blatantly INNACCURATE comments couldnt be more wrong...
theres NOTHING wrong w/ the variable vane turbo...there are MANY
around here that have NEVER had a turbo replaced.

feel free to back up your posts w/ REAL data.

now for some helpful comments...
find a different dealer...there just isnt enough moving parts inside
a turbo that would require FOUR replacements...youre dealing w/
a dealership & tech(s) that arent properly isolating the problem...

It could be an oiling Problem, it may take you paying for to find out!!

Mine went through 2 turbos on the stock exhaust with the last turbo and MBRP it has been fine. Both of the previous turbos were sticking open. I was towing a lot. Basically everyday around 600-900 miles at nothing less then 8k most of the time right around 12k.

Ford installed my MBRP exhaust, so I can't see them saying it's what caused any issues. Keep us updated.

I'm on my third for the 03. Mine is stock. One of these days they'll be saying

"Sorry sir, FMC has instructed us to void your warranty because you weigh more than 200 pounds and that is causing more stress on the left battery"

but as a side note, my servicing dealer here told me yesterday whilst they were eyeballing a CEL light -popcorn
that ford is killing them with notices about warranty repairs that might be subject to scrutiny......

he did notice my nice dirty tailpipe but said nothing....cept it was dirty and if i was smoking...
the new tech said he could change my fuel pump and relay...if i wanted a warm fuzzy, they set a light on sunday... but it was my fault ( I had the relay unplugged when i tried t start it)....( i didnt say a word)
they have a new tech whom, was very knowledgabe,

They say the turbo's are coking up, and they change them. After the fourth turbo was replaced, they said the hotline suggests I use cetane boost, which I use Ford's stuff from the parts dept., and they said not to let it idle, which I don't. They haven't denied any warranty work yet, I'm just wandering why this keeps happening. My truck only has 16000 miles , what could be causing these turbo failures?

Well certainly SOMETHING UPstream of the turbo is causing the
coking...are you idling the truck any ?

As a ref. ive got 50k on mine and NEVER had a turbo replaced,
repaired or worked on...surely im not unique.

youre getting 4000 miles out of a turbo...i say NO WAY theres
either something else wrong OR the dealership hasnt take the time
to properly diagnose your problems.

surely w/ such frequent replacement of the same part (everytime)
someone has to scratch their head and go hummmm..."maybe its
not the turbo after all...hummm i wonder what it could be..."

my suggestion is that you need to find a different dealer...cause
the one you have now isnt fixing the truck.
