Repair Price??

I took my truck to a shop today (people I trust). I told them to check the front end out and see if there was something making my steering sloppy. Sure enough it needs all the balljoints, Inner and outer tie rod ends, an adjusting sleeve, and sway bar end links. Total with labor came to $1136.02
I know absolutely nothing about truck suspension. Just by some things I read on here I know that all the stuff needs to be greaseable. I asked them if that was the parts I was getting and they said yes. Anyway, did I get hosed on the price? Was there something else they could be missing or any more parts that could be affecting my handling?

My dealer wanted 1200 for ball joints & sway arm bushings only. So going by that you did a hell of a lot better than I would have. (if I let them do it)

jeezus ! were talkin about 35 bucks for POLY bushings (better than
the stock sway bar bushings)...and MAYBE 100 bucks (at the most)
for all the seals/orings upper/lower balljoints per side...

for 1100 or 1200 bucks id be figuring out how to do the work myself
(i did all of these on my own truck)...and there are links in the mod
section of my sig for parts.

theres plenty of details/instructions on the net too...and just
about anywhere that you could buy the balljoints will loan you
any special tools you need to git 'r done in your own driveway !

Well I don't have the time to fix the truck myself nor do I have the patience to do work I have no clue about. That price also included an alignment
yeah I might have paid a little bit too high of a price but at least it will (hopefully) be fixed correctly. I had just started to notice that the shimmy on the front end while driving was a little nerve racking.

I dunno what the tie rods are running but those bal joints, and new seals are definatly under $200 for everything to do both sides.

those ford seals can be bought from any spicer dealer for about a 1/3 of the ford price. same parts, alot cheaper.

i would agree the powerstroke shops price is a bit high STILL...
and although i would agree theres certainly something GOOD to be
said about one stop shopping at the same time mail-ordering
lifetime warranted parts can be tough to "collect" on when its
time to get the warranted replacements.

theres something to be said for being able to exchange parts w/
the local autozone/o'rielys & pepboys when theyre right around the
"corner"
