Has anyone heard anything good or bad about the Lincoln Mark LT? We are kicking around the idea of trading our Excursion for one. If you haven't seen one you can check them out here. In person they look really nice. It doesn't seem like the pictures do them justice. With the Family plan pricing and other incentives it just seems like it might be a good time to replace the old Excursion. We would like another Excursion but the 6.0 just isn't something I want to deal with and the V10 burns way too much gas. The wife has been driving our little Explorer here lately because it is a little handier to park than the X. For longer trips you cannot beat an Excursion but for city driving and parking it can be a little cumbersome. We would really hate to see the Excursion go but my wife does not deal well with break downs. As the miles get higher and higher I am sure that little things will start going wrong. The transmission will also need replaced in the next couple of years. Like they say if she ain't happy I ain't happy. I am perfectly happy with my 96' and I will never sell it. When something goes wrong with it I just get out the tool box and fix it but for the wife I think newer may be better. Anyone heard of any problems with the Mark LT?

p.s. Someone please talk me out of it......Quick -popcorn

Your dealer must be offering you a smokin hot deal on the Lincoln? Youve only got 89K on the Ex right now. I cant imagine Mrs Crumm abuses it to awfuly bad so what makes you think you need to replace a tranny in a couple of years? Ive never been a huge fan of the re-badged base line upto the luxury line. Its simply an F-150 with a few more bells and whistles (reads more to go wrong down the road). No different than I would'nt own an Escalade when its the equivalent of an Av. I dunno, thats just me and my twisted thinking.

You gotta do what makes you and mamma happy.

I'd look into a F-150 Lariat Crew. Buy a year end 05 model along with the family pricing...... hell I dunno. I hate car payments! :cussing:

I personally would stick to a F150 over the Lincoln. If you keep the vehicle for a few years the F150 will always have a better parts availiability than the Lincoln. The Lincoln will never be as popular as the F150 and the interior trim parts will be obsolete before the F150 parts are. A F150 Lariat Crew Cab is just as nice of truck in my opinion and possibly better priced.

Can I talk you out of buying a F150 with the UGLY Lincoln grille? ;)

Don't do it!

Buy a Ford Truck. :thumbs

You can do what you want, it's your money, but I think you'd get just as nice a truck if you got the F150 King Ranch. It's leather interior looks great!! Plus the LT has sheepskin floors instead of carpets. I would imagine that the sheepskin would be a b*tch to keep clean. You'd have to take your shoes off just to get in it. In a few years, the 05 F150 will probably be worth more than the LT anyway. Plus you'll pay thousands less for a 150 just as nice (IMHO). Also, the 150 King Ranch has a grille that is very similar to the 99-04 SD's.

AND I was at the local cruise night last weekend with my nova, bumped into an old friend. He was in the middle of a conversation with another guy so I listened in. The friend was Keith Kraft, if you haven't heard of him he can build the meanest Ford Race motors. He is very well known in the Ford hot rod and drag racing world. 99 percent of the population can't even afford one of his motors. Anyway, that conversation ended and lead into talking about the new F150 with a diesel. I finally got to speak up, and found that one of the guys there is a ford bigwig, and they were all in town to see Kraft's new shop, and the Shelby Daytona Replica he is building. This conversation is all but hear say, but I think Ford will be doing this because of the government wanting Eco vehicles and offering tax incentives. I would wait and see if it pans out. The only thing I would trade my truck in for would possibly be one of these. Budro

We have been talking it over and the thought of all those payments has about got the whole idea shot down. Another problem is not enough seating. We have three kids but there always seems to be a few extra tagging along. Today we took 4 kids to the movie so just where would they sit? I don't believe with all the seat belt laws that the law would like a bunch of kids in the back. In my opinion the Lincoln is much better looking than the F150 because of all the bells and whistles but everyone likes different things. We will probably just keep the old X for a few more years but the flash of a new rig does make a guy think once in a while. Thanks for all your input.

The UGLY grille coment was put in in order to talk you out of the Lincoln. The X is a better choice overall. :thumbs

I though so. The grill looks good to me, I like it. I may go for a little test drive today if I have time.
