truck has no power?

I'am asking a question on my freinds truck it is a 94 1 ton powerstroke. We tryed hooking up a mac scanner to it and it won't communicate with the computer so its probably chiped. It sounds like it has a misfire at idle and when your going down the highway at 65 it says its reving at 3500. Smokes white when you give it gas. I was thinking the maybe the cam sensor is going out because it runs better when its warm. oh and it only has 84000 miles on it.

What do you guys think is the problem?

Some 94's won't communicate with a scanner. Something about not being OBDII compliant.

Where did you try to connect the scanner. The 94 and some 95's have the OBII connector but its is not a live connection.....not OBII ready. A dealership can flash your computer to fix this.

Based upon the info you give, I am going to say it has a burnt UVC harness.

Under the hood by the pcm I not sure exactly I wasn't there when he hooked it up. It was a mac genisis scanner the one with the big screen. What is the UVC harness?

Under Valve Cover electrical harness.

Could be or the valve cover gasket. The connections from the outside harness to the UVC harness run through the valve cover gasket. Pull the oil fill plug and sniff for electrical burnt smell..

Is this the glow plug harness?
Would he have to replace the whole harness?

It could still be the drivers side but if it is the passenger side you can smell it through the oil fill..
