A couple years ago I removed the bed from my truck and replaced it with a wooden one. As this was only supposed to be temporary, I wired in some cheap trailer lights (1157 bulbs). Unfortunately this modification has become permanent.
Wanting a better set up, I recently re-wired everything, installed LED tail lights and a new pigtail for my camper. Since then however, I've noticed something odd. My blinkers now flash at a very high rate ( sort of like I have a bulb burned out). What's really weird is it only happens under two circumstances:
1) Blinkers on, truck only.
2) Truck and trailer connected, left blinker only.
When the truck is connected to my camper and the right blinker is activated the rate of flash is normal. Also, when the emergency flashers are used (truck alone, no camper by the way) the rate of flashing is normal. Yes, I know, this is probably a separate circuit.
I should note that I replaced thye left camper tail light with a LED last year as the original went bad. The right tail light on the camper is the original and takes an 1157 bulb.
What is it about the LED's that seem to be causing the high flash rate?
