That 06-07 F-450 and F-550 Loaded (KR or Lariat) crew cabs are so hard to find in a manual transmission configuration?

I've scoured the net (e-bay, autotrader, etc), and I can't find any 6 speed trucks.

Are Crew cab Lariat (or KR) 4x4 F-450 and F-550 trucks with 6 speed trannies so rare for those years?

I was on the on the hunt for a 6 speed truck last summer and I had the exact same problem. I wan't an 05-07 fully loaded crew cab (lariat or king ranch) either in an F350 S/DRW or an F450. I searched for a month and a half here in Ontario and only found 2 both which had high mileage and were pretty beat up. I finally gave up and settled for an automatic.

The reason I'm looking for a manual in a loaded 450 or 550 is because as soon as I get one, it will trek to Kalispel Montana and have a 5.9 Cummins installed under the hood... preferably AFTER the powerstroke is yanked out. ;) I have nothing against the Powerstroke, my current 03 has done me well (knock on wood). It's just that I can't reliably put 800Ft Lbs out of one.

The problem is the Torqshift will still need the FORD PCM to operate. But a ZF 6 speed wouldn't (obviously) need the PCM's help.

It seems I may have to suck it and buy a truck with a Torqshift then it replaced with a ZF... I will have to do some more research to see if this is even possible. I remember reading somewhere that the transmission tunnel in manual equipped trucks sits a little higher because the ZF is bigger around than the Torqshift.

Anyone done an auto to manual conversion on the F-Series?

it's because most of these were sold to cowboy wanna-be's with small junk, that never learned how to drive a stick..

most of the sticks are in commercial chassis, like wreckers or straight trucks.

You're probably going to find it cheaper & easier to find a commercial chassis and put in a KR or Lariat interior

I didn't realize swapping transmissions between a Torqshift an a ZF would be more expensive than swapping out to a say, Lariat interior, and running all the necessary extra wiring harnesses and stuff like converting from the rotary knob climate control to the EATC which IIRC has a totally different wiring harness, stepper motors for the blend door, etc. :/

My Dealer, who sells 95% F series trucks to Farmers'n Ranchers, tells me the exact same thing.

In 2000, when I spec'd out my F-350.. it took him 2+ weeks on the dealer net to find a F-350, DRW, XLT with a 6 speed. Cab & Chassis, no problem.. XLT or Lariat.. no way.

He finally found my DRW, (that had just been delivered) in Orange, Ca. They did a "Like value" swap at a half way point... My Warrenty started @ 130 miles.

They're Hard To Find.. Still, as I understand.

He also sez.. Ford will build a bunch with the 6 spd, spread'm around.. then back to the Automatics. Unless you want to go thru the "Order one from the Factory" and wait 6/8 weeks thing.

FYI, there is no such thing as a King Ranch F-450 or F-550 in the 99-07 model years. If you do find a 6spd manual Lariat 05-07 upgrading to the King Ranch interior is merely swapping out the seats, center console, steering wheel (it has the dark leather grips) and other interior bits and pieces. The Auto Temp Controls are the same as are the rest of the dash elelctronics.

maybe they should bring back three on the tree :stir

around here almost ALL of the farm trucks are barely xls and most have manuals
but the RICH cowboys driving KR's are all autos

have you looked at maybe ordering a NEW truck with a manual

I was not aware of the lack of KR availability in the F450. I knew it's not available in the 550. No wonder I couldn't find any. I are a t00l.... Thank you. I guess I'll settle for a Lariat. I don't want an XLT, as I mentioned before, rewiring the truck to bring all the lariat goodies into an XLT would be a pain in the gluteus maximus.

That would be an option IF:

1. I liked the interior of the 08+ MY
2. I wouldn't be yanking the Power Stroke out in favor of a TT 5.9 Cummins.
3. I liked the interio... wait, already mentioned that.
4. I'd rather pay 30K for an interior I like than pay 50K+ for an interior I don't like.
5. I liked the inte.... errr..

Time to google "used truck factory" and find the phone number to this Uber secret factory. :D
