Whats this called and why is it oily??

Please excuse my ignorance on this but I dont recall what this part is called.I think I saw somehing about it before.Also why isthere oil around the cold side hose?I wiped it off but you can still see some below it.

That's the Plenum.

I think just about everyones builds up the oil residue like that over time.

The oily residue comes from the CCV hose under the plastic connector in the air intake. The "CCV mod" will eliminate the oily residue in the intake and intercooler tubes. Sometimes folks will have intercooler tubes blow out of the blue connector boots due to the oil film. It can be a PITA trying to reconnect intercooler tubes on the side of the road.

Thanks, thought Id seen it before.Musta been over at the wiki site.It must have been bypassing for a while with the prior owner, the hood blanket is nasty.Ill have to give the CCV mod a go.
